“No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face.” – John Donne
Yes, my dear friends and the rest of the Universe,
This is the week to create for Brown Sugar Challenge Blog. The image is sponsored by Rick St Dennis and it is called the Face of Autumn. As you know, I am one of many artist out there who loves drawing and painting faces, so this week’s image title inspired me streight away…
I begun with trying some background playing with colour on top of a piece of corrugated paper, yes I love working with corrugated surface, it feels so earthy and organic, I love it.. 🙂
I love collecting leaves in autumn and letting them to dry sometimes just as they are, and sometimes I place them between books…
“How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days. ” – John Burroughs
I start colouring my digital image
I cut pieces of left over papers and placed them at random.. I wasn’t sure where this was going to lead me, but I just knew I wanted to place the image in the middle of autumn leaves… The final piece contained a few real dried leaves… I also worked a bit more on the background with more watercolours and gelatos.. I place a butterfly as a reminder to myself of ‘letting-go’ and the knowing that transformation is something natural and possible in all of us…
Thank you for being here and hope you found warmth and the desire of embracing the beautiful Autumn… Have a great week and… :
